GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR BIKE

Take delivery, unpack it, and off you go!

Find the answers to all of the questions you might have the first time you use your bike.
Ready to head out on your bike for the very first time? Before you step outside, there are a few bits and pieces to check ;)

Here's our guide to getting started:

DO YOU NEED TO PEDAL FOR THE ELECTRICAL ASSISTANCE TO START?

Yes, electrical assistance only kicks in when you use the pedals.

Thanks to the cadence sensor fitted in the motor unit, pedal speed data is sent to the onboard computer operating the motor.

The level of assistance provided can be adjusted according to the assistance mode selected (1, 2 or 3). In mode 1, a greater amount of pedal force is needed than in mode 3 to achieve the same assistance speed.

We recommend using mode 3 when riding uphill, since your pedalling power will be less when climbing.

WHAT'S THE RIGHT PRESSURE FOR YOUR TYRES

The recommended ideal pressure is 3 bar.

BEDDING IN YOUR BRAKES

The braking capacity will be reduced the first time you ride the bike because the brake pads and discs have yet to be engaged. That's why we recommend you avoid sharp, continuous braking as it could cause the brake pads to overheat and "glaze".

To prevent this from happening, we advise you to break in your brakes. They'll start to work properly after around ten brakings on each brake.

Please note: if your brake pads are smooth and shiny, it means that in all probability they are glazed. To avoid having to throw them away, you can deglaze them by sanding them lightly with some relatively fine sandpaper (P120). Remember to wear gloves and a mask when sanding your pads.

Once you've finished, refit your pads and break them in again.

FAQ: Battery

Practical questions about your battery.

CAN YOU RIDE WHEN IT'S RAINING? ARE THE COMPONENTS WATERTIGHT?

The battery is designed to be used when it's raining, but it shouldn't be submerged in water or washed with a pressure washer. The same is true for the display and the other components and electrical cables.

Nevertheless, we recommend sheltering your bike as much as possible when you're not riding it.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU FORGET TO SWITCH OFF YOUR BIKE?

Don't panic! The bike turns off automatically after a few minutes if it isn't being used.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY?

The 4A charger will fully charge the battery in 4.5 hours.

WHAT IS THE RANGE OF THE BATTERY?

Your electric bike's range depends on a number of factors:

> LOADS: The range will be reduced if the bike is carrying too much weight.

> TYPE OF ROUTE: The range is reduced on climbs.

> TYRE PRESSURE: Battery life is better with tyres inflated to between 3.5 and 5 bar.

 > OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE: The range is reduced in colder weather.

> POWER ASSIST MODE: We recommend reducing the assistance mode when the battery is running low.

> pedal cadence and the mode used: You have to pedal to go further!

> FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHARGING AND STORING YOUR BATTERY: The LD 920 E has an average battery range of 85 to 150 km.
Follow best practices to ensure your electric bike achieves its full range.

Where can you buy a replacement battery?

Even if you need to change your battery, you can't replace it yourself.
We recommend you go to a Decathlon store, buy a new battery, and get the workshop to install it for you.

Contact your nearest workshop to check on availability and order times.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH THE BATTERY WHEN IT WEARS OUT?

When your battery wears out, take it to your local Decathlon store, which will send it to a specialist recycling facility.

HOW SHOULD YOU STORE YOUR BATTERY?

So we strongly recommend storing your battery in a cool (between 10°C and 25°C) dry place and out of direct sunlight.

You should charge the battery (even if it's not being used) at least once every three months to prevent deep discharge and loss of the battery's capacity.

WHAT IS THE LIFETIME OF YOUR BATTERY?

The warranty on your battery is for 2 years or 500 charge cycles (1 cycle = 1 full charge + 1 full discharge).

SHOULD YOU WAIT UNTIL YOUR BATTERY IS COMPLETELY FLAT BEFORE CHARGING IT?

No. Lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect and can therefore be charged at any time.

We also recommend charging your battery regularly to ensure it keeps functioning properly.

Can you leave the charger connected to the battery even after it has finished charging?

We strongly advise you not to leave your battery plugged in and unattended, for example, overnight.
Once the battery is fully charged, the charger will automatically shut itself off (the LED indicator on the charger stays on).

DOES THE BATTERY CHARGE WHILE CYCLING?

No, it doesn't have a dynamo.
For your information: Some systems let you charge the battery as you ride or brake, but this doesn't generate much power. You'd have to ride several dozen kilometres to generate 1 km of additional power.

CAN YOU RIDE WHEN YOUR BATTERY IS FLAT?

Because this is an electrical assistance bike, there's nothing to stop you from riding it without this assistance.
A word of warning, though! The extra weight of the motor system will make cycling just that little bit harder.

FAQ: Connectivity

Practical questions for going further with your electric bike.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER YOUR BIKE IN THE APP?

Install the DECATHLON MOBILITY app and follow the registration procedure.

Where can you find your bike's serial number?

Your bike's serial number is made up of 10 characters (numbers and letters) and can be found on the seat post. This is the same code that you need to link with the IMEI code located inside the battery compartment, on the edge of the battery compartment.

Your smart bike
What is the IMEI code and where can it be found?

The IMEI code is a unique code identifying your bike's built-in connectivity. It usually starts with the numbers 35 or 86 and is made up of 15 digits. It is printed on a small white label with a QR code that you can scan with your smartphone camera. The label is situated on the bike's "ID card" which must be retained. The card is in the charger and toolbox.

What should you do if you can't scan your bike's activation code or the IMEI code during pairing with your smartphone?

It can be difficult to read QR codes with your smartphone camera if the lens is dirty. We recommend you clean it properly beforehand.

If you keep having problems during this stage, you can enter the codes manually, as you are prompted to do when you first start the application.

You get an error message when adding your bike to the Decathlon mobility app

Do you get an error message when entering your bike's activation code in the app? There are three possible reasons why:

- The bike is already connected to another account. You need to delete it so you can add it to your application. (See video)

- Your bike doesn't have a module offering connectivity: check that your bike is fitted with technology enabling it to be connected (if it is, it will have a sticker indicating this).

- There's something blocking our internal system. Please email us at the following address, providing your full contact details and your bike's APIC and IMEI codes: [email protected]

WHAT IF YOUR BIKE CAN'T BE FOUND?

If your bike can't be found, it means that it must be in a place that cannot be located by GPS:

- Either your bike is stored inside (underground), in which case we recommend you take a ride outside to reactivate it,

- or you're in an area where there is no network (woodland, rural area, etc.) which explains why you can't be located.

Sharing your bike with someone else.

You can lend your bike to a friend and so they can be located.
To do so, they'll need to download the Decathlon Mobility app and follow the steps in this video.

Please note that you can only share with one other person (only the owner and the person it's shared with can see it).

WHAT ARE GEOFENCE ZONES FOR?

You can set up a geofence to mark out the area where you usually park or lock up your bike.

You'll receive a notification each time your bike enters or leaves this zone.
This means that you'll know straight away if your bike leaves this pre-set zone without your knowledge (e.g. if it's stolen).

Creating your alert zones

At the bottom of the home screen of the Decathlon Mobility app you'll find the "Alert Zones" function, which you can use to create a geographical area so that you can be alerted on your smartphone as soon as your bike leaves that zone.
To do this, select the geographical area and zoom in/zoom out to create the perimeter of the area in which your bike will be "tracked". As soon as the bike leaves one of these predefined areas, you will receive an alert on your smartphone via the Decathlon Mobility app.

ELOPS 920E CONNECT HIGH AND LOW FRAME ELECTRIC BIKE

Unknown movements detected on your bike? Here's what to do.

The bike's built-in movement sensor alerts you to potential danger. If a thief tries to break into your lock, you will receive an instant notification, giving you the opportunity to take immediate action and scare them away.
It's also entirely possible that weather conditions, such as strong winds and heavy rain can trigger this type of alert.

If you don't want to receive notifications from the movement sensor, you can switch it off by going to the last tab on the Decathlon Mobility app menu and clicking on the "Notifications" tab, where you can uncheck the option 'When small movements are detected".

NB: You can also create "alert zones" around familiar places such as your home or place of work. Every time your bike enters or leaves this geographical zone, you will receive an alert.

Displaying your journeys on the map.

You can view the latest journeys you've made on the home screen of the Decathlon Mobility App. Just click on one of the journeys to view details about it (map, duration, average speed and journey time).

If you click on "Display" in the "Journeys" section on the right-hand side of the home screen, you'll see all the journeys listed by date.

ELOPS 920E CONNECT HIGH AND LOW FRAME ELECTRIC BIKE

Can you check the distance you've ridden over a certain period?

Yes, you can check out your statistics in the second tab on the Decathlon Mobility app: "Statistics". You can access your weekly bike use report in the first menu and also view the average bike use among other cyclists.

Can you use your smartphone to check your bike battery status remotely?

Yes, you can do this by clicking on the third tab on the app: "Bike".

Click on the third tab on this menu and you can access the "Battery" sub menu.It displays the actual battery charge level and an estimate of the distance you can travel with the remaining charge level.

The estimated distance can obviously vary according to your route (elevation, wind, the load on the bike, etc).

Deleting the bike from your application.

You'll need to do this if you sell your bike.
It will allow the future owner to be able to locate their bike. This video tutorial explains the steps you need to follow.

What is a bike with an anti-theft connection?

By taking out a modest insurance policy (for less than 10 euros a month), having a connected bike means you benefit from comprehensive insurance (accident, damage, theft, etc.) and an EXCLUSIVE Bike Recovery service in the event of theft.

What happens if your bike is stolen? You'll receive a notification from the Decathlon Mobility app and you can request a security company to intervene. They will locate your bike and bring it home. If they are unable to do this, you will be reimbursed under the terms of the insurance policy.

How does your connected bike work?

Your electric bike is fitted with a box that allows you to connect your bike to your smartphone and convert it into a "super bike".

You can also ascertain the exact location of your bike and receive an alert in real time when it moves from its initial location.

The technology has been developed by our Netherlands-based industrial partner AXA iN Security, which has specialised in bike security (lighting and anti-theft systems) for more than a century.

What's the point of having a connected bike?

A "connected" bike is an "augmented" bike blessed with superpowers!

It allows you to benefit from a series of functions and services that would simply not be available with a "conventional", unconnected bike.

You can, for example, receive an alert when someone touches your bike or when it moves without your knowledge.

It has a host of other useful functions for cyclists, with new functions being made available all the time. These bikes are evolving all the time.

Does the theft insurance offered via the app cover theft when the bike is parked on the street at night?

Yes, unlike conventional insurance for bikes that cannot be located via GPS, you can park your bike outside at night.

You'll need to secure your bike to a fixed point with a lock, however.

Do you have to pay to use the Decathlon Mobility app?

The app is free but you do need an internet connection to use it.

What do you need to do to activate your free connectivity pass for a year?

Connect your bike to your smartphone using the Decathlon Mobility app. Your free year of connectivity will start from the moment you connect for the first time.

How do you know when your subscription will end and how do you renew it?

At the start of the 11th month of the subscription, you will receive an email and a notification via the Decathlon Mobility app informing you of when free connectivity ends.

You will then have the opportunity to extend your subscription by paying the connectivity fee (less than 2 euros a month).

When can you pay your connectivity fee?

You can do so as soon as the 12 months of free connectivity offered with the purchase of your bike is over.

What is the bike recovery service?

This is a service through which an insured person can ask for assistance from a security company (Securitas) when their bicycle has been stolen.

Cyclists subscribing to this service can use the app to report the theft of their bike. They share the location of the bike with the security company, who then work with local police to recover it.

If the bike is located, the security company will collect it and return it to a pre-arranged location.

If the bike cannot be recovered within 48 hours, the insurance company will provide reimbursement for the theft of the bike.

What's the point of a bike recovery service if you're insured against theft?

The Bike Recovery service allows you to get your bike back very quickly. In most cases, bikes are recovered in under 48 hours.

You can take out separate theft insurance. However, they can be more expensive when the bike cannot be located via GPS or when there is no recovery service linked to the bike. In that case, there is a very high risk of the stolen bike not being recovered.

If you subscribe to a bike recovery service does it come with a one-year commitment?

No.You are free to stop the service at any time but you must take out insurance for the first 30 days after the date of purchase of the bike.

The minimum subscription period is one month, but once this period is over, you will not be able to use that subscription again. Only one insurance policy can be taken out for the same bike.

However, given the value of the bike, we can only urge you to use this option to insure it.

Can you make use of the bike recovery service if you are not insured at the time of the theft?

Not for the moment, but it is being looked into.

However, the option under consideration will be more expensive and the service will not be activated immediately (you should allow a maximum of three hours for the private security company to receive notification of your bike's location). The subsequent intervention is less likely to be successful.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOUR BIKE IS STOLEN?

If your bike is stolen, you'll get a notification that it has moved from its "geofence zone".
Important! You'll need to create the geofence zone on the home page before you can use this feature.

It is essential to report the bike stolen on the Decathlon Mobility application and make a preliminary complaint online (which must be signed afterwards at your local police station).

This will enable the police to initiate a search procedure.

You'll be kept up to date with the local police's operation to recover your bike.

How long does it take for the insurance company LAKA (specific to this bike) to pay out if the operation is unsuccessful?

As soon as you report the theft on your LAKA personal space, with the official theft report, you will be offered a new bike or equivalent solution within 48 hours.

YOUR BIKE IS NEW AND YOUR BATTERY WON'T TURN ON

New batteries are carefully stored so that they won't be drained to begin with.

The first time you use your bike, you must connect your battery to its charger and plug it into a socket to "wake it up", if the store has not already done so.

If the problem persists and the battery still doesn't turn on, submit a support request or visit a Decathlon workshop.

YOUR BATTERY WON'T CHARGE

1. Check that there is no dirt on the connectors
The charger and battery connectors must be clean. There should be no dirt preventing contact between the battery and its charger.

2. Check the battery > charger > mains socket connection.
> Check that the charger you are using is the original one provided by Decathlon.
> Plug the charger into the battery and a mains plug.

A completely drained battery will take 5 hours to charge fully.

3. One of the LED indicator lights on the battery may be defective.
If you're looking for repairs to be carried out, come to one of our Decathlon workshops.

If the problem persists, please contact us through the contact form, or visit a Decathlon workshop.

THE BATTERY LIFE IS LOW OR HAS GONE DOWN

1. Make sure you follow the recommendations for using and storing your battery.

The battery life of your SPEED 900 E depends on a number of factors:

> THE BIKE’S LOAD: The range will be reduced if the bike is carrying too much weight.

> THE ROUTE: The range is reduced on climbs.

> THE TYRE PRESSURE: Battery life is better with tyres inflated to between 3.5 and 5 bar.

> THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE: The range is reduced in colder weather (by up to 50%).

> THE POWER ASSIST MODE: We recommend reducing the assistance mode when the battery is running low.

> YOUR PEDALLING CADENCE: You have to pedal to go further. An e-bike is still a bike, so you'll need to pick the gear best suited to how you ride it (e.g.

2. An old battery can have reduced performance.
The distance you can travel will therefore be reduced. Visit your Decathlon workshop to give your battery a check-up.

The electrical assistance isn't coming on / is jerky / is cutting out

Note: the LD 920 E is an electric assistance bike that is activated by a power sensor.

If you stop pedalling, the assistance will cut out.

If you find it too much of a strain, move up one assistance mode.

The electric assistance will automatically cut off once the bike reaches a speed of 25 km/h; this is not a malfunction.

If your electrical assistance still isn't turning on, if it's jerky or if it cuts out, follow these steps:

1. Check the battery charge

2. Let the system cool down.
In high temperatures, or after a long ride, the electric system may overheat. Allow the bike to cool down by not using the electric assistance for several minutes before you restart it.

3. Select an assistance mode other than 0.
If the mode displayed on the screen is 0, the motor will not deliver any electrical assistance.
Select one of the ECO / TOUR / TURBO assistance modes.
When you have selected a mode, start pedalling hard.
Select a higher assistance mode (3 is the highest) if the amount of pedalling force needed to engage the electrical assistance is too difficult for you.

If the electrical assistance still fails to engage, please contact us or bring your bike to a Decathlon workshop.
