2023

Have you purchased a 2 Seconds or traditional pole tarp shelter and have a question or a problem with your model? We're here to support you. Assembly, instructions, spare parts... Here’s all the information you’ll need to make your product last.

First adventures: Our advice

How to properly pitch / set-up your tarp shelter

Before using the tarp shelter for the first time, read the pitching and dismantling instructions on the product and watch the video available on the Decathlon.fr website.
Here are the different tarp shelters:

  • 2 Seconds Tarp Shelter:
This tarp shelter uses our 2 Seconds technology so the pole structure is pre-assembled over the textile cover.
When opening it, make sure people stay around 3 m away and hold the tarp at arm’s length. The shelter is self-supporting. Position it and put the three pegs in place.
  • 2 Seconds Easy Tarp Shelter:
Enjoy the exclusive "EASY" technology to pitch your shelter in one minute. The self-standing structure lets you move the shelter once it has been assembled so you can find the best location. Instant foldaway: once the tarp is released, simply gather it all into the bag.
  • Pole tarp shelter:
For this traditionally-structure pole tarp shelter, follow these steps:
- Take all the parts out of the case,
- Spread out the poles on the ground and the textile cover,
- Insert the front pole in the fabric sleeve up to the end, make it taut and insert it in the opposite sleeve,
- Repeat this for the second pole,
- The shelter is free-standing, move it and put the three pegs in place.

How weatherproof is my living room?

Do not use in the event of strong rainfall.
This tarp shelter protects you from light rain thanks to its polyurethane-coated polyester fabric. The groundsheet protects you from damp and water run-off. PLEASE NOTE! The seams are not waterproof, which means it does not provide protection against heavy rain.

Do not use in strong winds.
Properly pitched, this tarp shelter remains habitable in Wind Speed 4, measured at 30 km/hr. These tests have been conducted in wind tunnels.

Does my tarp shelter offer sun protection?

The main fabric we use is made from 75D (denier) polyester fibres, coated in polyurethane to guarantee UPF 50+ sun protection.
Important: Since some UV rays pass directly or indirectly through the front of the tarp, we advise you to protect your skin.

Camping tarp shelters: instructions, repairs
How do I store my tarp after use?

Before storing it, leave your tarp to air-dry then make sure it’s thoroughly dry, including underneath. This will prevent any odours or mould from forming.

Our tarp shelters have been designed for occasional outdoor use (four weeks per year) during your adventures in the great outdoors. Continued exposure to UV rays over several weeks can damage the fabric. These products do not fall into the category of "garden furniture" and are not designed to remain outdoors permanently. To guarantee maximum durability of your tarp shelter, it’s important to clean it and to store it in its cover when not in use.

Cleaning my camping tarp shelter

Maintaining a camping hoop living room

Using it correctly

Before pitching your tarp shelter, read the pitching and dismantling instructions. Finally, don’t leave your tarp shelter too exposed to the sun, as UV rays accelerate the wear process.

Wash

Do not use cleaning products to wash your living room, but rather clean or soapy water if necessary. Make sure you rinse it well when you've finished.

Dry

It’s important to dry your tarp thoroughly after cleaning to avoid mould. If you have space at home, set up the entire structure so that it dries more quickly.
Finally, remember to dry the underside of your tarp and its cover.

Storing

Store your tarp in a dry place at room temperature.
