At the Basecamp Decathlon's international design and creation centre dedicated to mountain sports products - a team of fifteen engineers, pattern makers and designers work all year round to imagine backpacks for future collections, mainly based on a criterion:the needs of demanding hikers.
This is why we test our backpacks with experienced hikers inside and outside Decathlon, on the paths around the Mont Blanc region. These tests make it possible to check the comfort and practicality of the backpacks during long or short hikes. They also allow designers and engineers to interact directly with hikers.

Because we believe in the sturdiness of our products, we go well beyond the legal 2-year guarantee of conformity. Your backpack is guaranteed for 10 years. Yes, a decade of hikes, climbs, bivouacs and memories.
In concrete terms? This warranty covers all manufacturing defects and abnormal wear and tear.It applies to bags purchased in a Decathlon store or on the Decathlon website within the last ten years.

Your backpack is covered by the legal warranty of conformity for 2 years from its date of purchase. This means that any defects relating to design, manufacturing or delivery are covered.
If a problem arises, you can choose between repair or replacement. And if either option proves impossible or unreasonable, we’ll offer you the best solution so you can set off again on your adventures worry-free.
Our aim? That your bag remains your faithful travelling companion, ready to follow you everywhere!
And after 2 years, what happens then?
When possible, we prioritise repairing your backpack. If repair isn’t possible, the bag will be replaced. If exchange isn’t possible, a refund is issued.
The decision to repair, replace or refund is up to the store, depending on the possibilities and conditions of the warranty.To benefit from the warranty, the defect found must be included in the list of defects covered and/or prevent the backpack from being fully usable.
List of defects covered by the warranty:
You notice that the shoulder seams are torn or have become unstitched.
Your belt needs to support you and not give out while hiking.If the belt is loose at the seams, we'll help.
The seams of one or more zips are giving way or missing.
Seams that break after normal use*
*Normal use means use in accordance with the bag's design: carrying personal belongings or sports equipment, within its capacity and recommended frequency of use. It excludes overloading, improper use, poor care and natural wear.
The pocket fabric is torn and/or the mesh is loose.
One or more buckles on your bag are broken, torn or unusable.
The material inside your bag is damaged and coming apart after normal use*.
*Normal use refers to use that’s consistent with the bag's design: carrying personal belongings or sports equipment, within its capacity and recommended frequency of use. It excludes overloading, improper use, poor care and natural wear.
Did the zip, slider or pull-tab break while you were using your backpack for sports?We'll fix it!
If it no longer clicks, it's time to fix it.
Whether it's to keep your poles securely attached or your water bottle in place, if the elastic has lost its hold, we're here to fix it.
Your back needs support, and our reinforcement bars are proven for hiking, skiing and mountaineering.
Is the material inside your bag damaged and coming apart after normal use?The inside must be sturdy. If the coating naturally blisters over the course of 10 years, use your warranty.
Have the chest or shoulder straps suddenly torn?Contact one of our 1700 stores.
If your backpack meets the criteria, these items will be repaired or replaced as a priority..
Aesthetically, your bag may be slightly altered in colour and repair choices, but we’re committed to keeping it functional, and when we can’t repair it, we’ll replace it.Our priority is to get you back on your adventures as quickly as possible!
The commercial warranty doesn’t cover defects resulting from misuse.

Mud, coffee, chocolate ... memories, but not a defect.
A branch, rock or misplaced crampon - it happens.

The legal guarantee of conformity protects you against manufacturing defects found during the purchase or delivery of a product. Each product benefits from the legal guarantee of conformity; it's a mandatory commitment, and we make sure you can fully enjoy your equipment.In the European Union, this guarantee is for 2 years, except in Sweden, Spain and Portugal, where it’s 3 years.
The commercial warranty, which is 8 years (7 years in Sweden, Spain and Portugal), complements the legal guarantee without replacing it.As a consumer, you can claim against this warranty based on the eligibility criteria specified in this warranty.
In total, the warranty extends to 10 years from the date of purchasing your backpack. This additional warranty that we offer means you can enjoy your purchase without any hassle, even after several years.
To benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity at Quechua and Simond during the first two years, the product must have a conformity defect.That is, a design, manufacturing or delivery defect.
For the following eight years, to be eligible for the commercial warranty, the product defect must correspond to one of the listed defects identified as included in the warranty.
In both cases, the product must have been purchased in one of our 1700 stores or on our website.
If you can't find your paper proof of purchase, you can always check your Decathlon app account to see if your backpack is among your recent purchases.To benefit from the warranty, you must provide either paper or digital proof, otherwise you will unfortunately not be eligible for the warranty.If this is case, go directly to the last part of the article to find out how to extend the life of your bag.
Under the legal guarantee of conformity, any lack of conformity is presumed to have existed before the product was purchased (this is called presumption of anteriority).So you don’t need to prove the presence of the defect on the day of sale.
To benefit from the warranty, you can return the product to the store with a purchase receipt, invoice or directly with a Decathlon account active on the date of purchase.
After the first two years, your store will assess the application of the warranty, based on the list of defects covered.
The Quechua commercial warranty doesn’t apply; it’s only valid for the purchase of a new bag.
