Getting started

How do i position my cardio armband correctly on my arm?

Your Kalenji HBR500 has a heart rate monitor with optical reading to help you find your rhythm while jogging.
To ensure an accurate measurement of your heart rate:

- Wear the product with the button on the top, in the middle of your biceps
- The product should be positioned in the middle of the biceps before the elbow and after the shoulder.
- The product is not made to work properly on the wrist
- Adjust the bracelet so that it is tight but does not interfere with your practice

The product should not rotate or move on your arm.

How do i start and stop my product?

To start the HRB500 it is necessary to press the button for less than 1 second. A green led should appear next to the button.

To switch off the HRB500, press the button for at least 3 seconds. A red led should appear next to the button.

Prise en main
What does each color of led on my product correspond to?

1. If the green and blue LEDs flash alternately, the product is looking for your heart rate

2. If the green led flashes alone, your heartbeat has been detected-

3. When pairing, if your green LED lights up "continuously" for a few seconds, the product is well connected.

4. If the red LED is flashing, you have less than 20% battery left.

5. When charging, the product flashes red until it is fully charged after 2h30. At 100% the led turns green.

How are my effort zones calculated on decathlon coach?

Your exercise zones (warm-up, comfort, endurance, resistance and hard resistance) are calculated automatically based on your reserve heart rate (HRR = your maximum heart rate - your resting heart rate).

Your maximum heart rate is estimated by the watch based on your age and gender. By default, the resting heart rate is 70 bpm.

Warm-up: less than 60% of your HR.
Comfort (also called fundamental endurance): 60 to 70% of your HRR.
Endurance: 70 to 80% of your HRR.
Resistance: 80 to 90% of your HRF.
Hard Resistance: 90 to 100% of your HRR.

The zones are visible at the bottom of your watch screen and therefore show you one of the 5 zones presented above.

Why is my session interrupted during my training on decathlon coach?

This is probably your phone's battery saver. You have to deactivate it on your phone.

Bluetooth/ant+ connection

How do i know if my product is up to date and has the ant + function?

If the ANT + logo is drawn on the back of your product and on the purchase box, your product is ANT + compatible. You have the latest firmware version.
If not, we can add it to you by updating your product. Contact our customer service in the contact form below and request the update of the HRB500 to ANT + V0.08.

Why is my belt not showing in the list of bluetooth devices on my phone?

Bluetooth Smart technology operates differently from Bluetooth. It is therefore normal that your HRB500 does not appear in your list of devices. The association of your product and your phone will be done from the application.

Which phones, products & applications is my belt compatible with?

The HRB500 cardio armband is compatible with:

Smartphones
Apple:
Phones: iPhone 5 and later.
iOS: 6 and above
Android:
Phones: with BLE technology
Android version 4.3 and above.

Applications: (subject to variation according to the wishes of the editors)
Decathlon Coach,
Adidas Running by Runtastic,
Strava GPS,
RunKeeper,
Nike + Run,
etc

For your product to work with your phone, it is important that it is compatible with your phone, your operating system (OS) but also with your application. Today, most applications are compatible with Bluetooth Smart cardio products. However, it is advisable to check with the application provider.

Product:
First of all, you must verify that your watches/treadmills/others are ANT + or Bluetooth compatible. Some brands use bluetooth for cardio, others ANT +. Check with the manufacturer.
Depending on the compatibility expressed by it, connect your HRB500 as a heart rate accessory.

What functions are transmitted via bluetooth?

Only the heart rate is transmitted by Bluetooth to a sports application.

Why is my app losing heart rate signal?

The HRB500 cardio armband and the application must be close for the connection to work: 10 meters maximum without obstacles, approximately 2-3 meters when there are obstacles between the watch and the application.

Why does my product not pair with my watch, my treadmill or other equipment i have at home?

The HRB500 does not have the ANT + protocol. It is only Bluetooth Smart. This therefore implies that its connection only works with bluetooth smart products. Be careful, many watches (like Garmin) or equipment are BLE and ANT + compatible but do not have the heart rate function in Bluetooth. Sometimes she is only ANT +. Bluetooth is used for other functions (SMS notifications, bike sensor, etc.). Check with the brand of your product.

Accuracy

Is the kalenji hrb500 optical cardio suitable for all sports?

The cardio sensor technology of the Kalenji HRB500 is ideal for sports activities with repetitive movements such as running, cycling, walking or the elliptical trainer.
For sports with out of sync movement such as fitness, weight training, racket and team sports, you may notice measurement errors.

Can we swim with the kalenji hrb500 ?

The product is not waterproof. It is only IP67. It is therefore not possible to use it when swimming. IP67 means it is dust and water resistant up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.

Does the kalenji hrb500 cardio optic work on all skin types?

The Kalenji HRB500's cardio sensor technology is designed for all skin tones and hair growth. On dark or tattooed skin, the amount of light re-emitted by the skin is less important. The sensor then adapts, injecting more light or adjusting the sensitivity of the light sensor. However, if you have any problems, contact our team using the button at the bottom of this page.

Why is my heart rate not correct?

We have tested the latest optical technologies to bring you the most reliable technology. However, certain factors can degrade the heart rate measurement:

YOUR PRODUCT IS POORLY POSITIONED:
Your product should fit properly, biceps above the elbow and below the shoulder while remaining comfortable. If the tightening is too loose, then the product will not be able to measure the signal correctly. See the section "How do I position my watch correctly on my wrist?"

YOUR SENSOR IS DIRTY:
If the back of your watch is dirty (dirt, sunscreen, dried out perspiration, etc.) this may affect the operation of the sensor. Your product is IP67. You can clean it by wiping a cloth dampened with water over it.

IT IS VERY COLD :
In cold weather, the blood system is prone to a decrease in the size of the blood vessels which makes it more difficult to measure the heart rate. Continuation of activity improves this measure since blood flow will increase with exertion.

SPLIT WORKOUT:
The product is located far enough from the heart that it will take some time for the blood to flow to your wrist. In a fractional effort, you will have a lag time in the measurement of the heart signal. For very short intervals less than a minute, the product will have difficulty measuring the maximum heart rate reached.

TATTOO:
If you have tattoos in the watch area, you may see errors in the heart rate measurement.

OTHER REASONS:
The blood supply to your right arm and your left arm may be different. If the results are not optimal on one arm, try the other arm.
