Lifetime warranty: FAQ

Why aren't carbon frames guaranteed for life?

They come with a 5-year warranty, and there's no guarantee we might one day offer a lifetime warranty. Carbon frames are often used in competition under intense conditions, which makes extending this warranty to lifetime more difficult.

Is the warranty still valid if I resell my bike?

Yes. The warranty is attached to the product, not to the customer. You will still need to be able to prove that you are the legal owner of the bicycle.

Why isn't the seatpost guaranteed for life?

The seat post is certainly not subject to wear and tear like other parts of the bike, but sometimes we find that its use is not in accordance with normal use (failure to respect the minimum clearance for insertion into the frame which can damage the post and/or the frame).

Legal Guarantees
It is also specified that the lifetime warranty does not exclude the application of the legal guarantee(s) provided by the Consumer Code and the Civil Code, namely:

Article L. 211-4 of the Consumer Code: "The seller is required to deliver goods in conformity with the contract and is liable for any lack of conformity existing at the time of delivery. They are also liable for any lack of conformity resulting from the packaging, assembly instructions, or installation when this has been made their responsibility by the contract or was carried out under their responsibility."

Article L. 211-5 of the Consumer Code: "To comply with the contract, the goods must:

Be fit for the purpose usually expected of similar goods and, where applicable: correspond to the description given by the seller; possess the qualities presented to the buyer in the form of a sample or model; present the qualities that a buyer can legitimately expect given the public statements made by the seller, producer, or representative, notably in advertising or labeling.

Or present the characteristics defined by mutual agreement between the parties or be fit for any special use sought by the buyer, brought to the seller's attention and accepted by the latter."

Article L. 211-12 of the Consumer Code: "Action resulting from a lack of conformity expires two years after the delivery of the goods."

Article 1641 of the Civil Code: "The seller is bound by a warranty against hidden defects in the item sold which render it unfit for its intended use, or which so diminish this use that the buyer would not have acquired it, or would only have given a lower price, had they known of them."

Article 1648 paragraph 1 of the Civil Code: "Action resulting from redhibitory defects must be brought by the buyer within two years from the discovery of the defect."
