My watch remains off, why?

MW mountain watches have a standby mode that saves the battery when not used for a long time.

This mode is enabled by default in production to ensure maximum battery life when purchasing. To exit standby mode, press the START / STOP button for 3 seconds and wait for the animation to scroll completely on the screen (scroll by 4 lines + ringtone).

Proceed in the same way to place the watch in standby mode.

Altimeter

What is an elevation gain (positive or negative)?

The elevation gain is a difference in altitude between two points. we also speak of altitude differential.
Ascent or Descent also called cumulative Ascent (or Descent)  is the sum of all elevations of the same sign during a session. This data is available during a session recorded or after having saved it in memory.

How to adjust the altitude?

Before each ride and especially if the weather is changeable, the altimeter should be adjusted.

This adjustment is made in altimeter mode (first mode after time mode) by pressing the LIGHT / SETTINGS button for 3 seconds. You can select firstly the units and so adjust the altitude by pressing the + and - icons on the screen. Remember to validate by using the START / STOP button.

NB: adjusting the altitude during a recording does not affect the calculation of elevation gain.

Why does the altitude change when i am not moving?

MW mountain watches use a barometric sensor to measure ambient pressure and determine altitude.

The pressure is likely to change depending on the weather (changes over several hours or minutes) or an excessive pressure due to strong wind or water (swimming, shower, very fast movements into the wind).

These events therefore bring about a change in altitude calculated by the watch that could be of difference of several meters.

In the specific case of swimming, remember to stop recording the hike to avoid distorting the calculation of vertical speeds and elevation gains.

Compass (mw trek 900 only)

The compass does not work correctly: what to do?

The compass is available on the MW TREK 900 models.

It works thanks to a magnetic sensor which needs to be recalibrated regularly. The calibration procedure is carried out, watch on the wrist via the settings menu, performing a movement of "eight" for 3 seconds.

During this adjustment, take care not to be close to a large metal mass as it may corrupt the settings.

Recording and memory

How and why to record a hike?

Session recording is available from the altimeter menu.

It enables access to various additional measurements to the altimeter such as positive and negative elevation gain, ascent and descent times, ... (refer to the instructions).

At the end of the session, it is possible to save it (1 on the MW TREK 500 model and up to 10 on the MW TREK 900 model). The session recording also allows you to accumulate the total positive elevation of all your recorded sessions (even if they are subsequently deleted) as well as the maximum altitude reached, all sessions combined.

Do mw watches record the gps track?

No, our watches do not have GPS and cannot calculate the position. There is therefore no possibility of retrieving a GPX trace from the watch

Are mw watches connected?

No, our watches have been developed to provide a simple and affordable measuring tool for your mountain activities.
They are therefore not connected and it is therefore not possible to recover the information present in memory.
