Installing the roller ski brake requires several adjustments to make best use of this braking system. Get our tips for optimal use:
To install the braking belt, you need to: - Clip the strap around the waist, adjusting the size if necessary - Place the strap on the brake side. The brake handle must be at hand height (arm extended). The strap is adjusted using the two tensioners. An excessively taut strap can activate the brake without meaning to. Conversely, a strap that is too loose can cause the strap to flap about and cause a fall. So it’s important to have the strap at the correct height.
To ensure the brake doesn’t get in the way when you’re not using it while practising, you can remove the brake strap. All you have to do is undo the knot located on the lower adjustment level and remove the brake strap. To replace it, do the same movement in the opposite direction.
If you want to change the brake direction (shift from the right to the left foot), you do not need to change the side cord. Simply change the direction of the belt so that the cord is positioned on the brake side.
It’s important to start braking from the start of the descent for progressive braking.
We recommend you remain static by maintaining a lunge position with the foot without brake forward to balance yourself on the descent.
