First outings with the SH500 snowshoes: Our advice

How to put your SH500 snowshoes on properly

It's important to put your snowshoes on properly if you want to walk safely and calmly on the snow.

Before putting them on:
There is a snowshoe for the left foot (L) and one for the right foot (R), check you have the correct snowshoe on each foot. A quick check: the fastening system is always positioned on the outside of the foot.

Adjustment:
Your snowshoes must be properly adjusted to ensure your safety.
1/ Your feet must reach the ends (front and back) of the shoe in order to optimise the fit.
2/ The straps must be as tight as possible.
Start by tightening the front strap, then the instep strap and finally the strap at the back of the boot.

Use hiking poles for greater stability!

We strongly recommend that you use a pair of poles for better stability when snowshoeing. Especially if you intend to walk on slopes (uphill, downhill, etc.) or on powder snow where you may sink in more. There are two types of basket – choose wide baskets so that the poles stay on the surface of the snow.

The right footwear for snowshoes!

For snowshoeing, you need warm, waterproof and breathable high hiking boots. Also go for boots with good grip for the areas where you will remove your snowshoes (on the car park for example or if there is not enough snow).
