Regular maintenance is important if you want to keep your bike working efficiently for as long as possible, so we've put together some maintenance tips to help you.
With road bikes you need to keep a close eye on tyre pressure. Tyre traction is particularly important when turning.
To reduce the risk of punctures and falls, you need to inflate your tyres to between 6 and 8 bar. A useful rule of thumb is to divide your weight by ten. So if you weigh 70kg, you should inflate your tyres to 7 bar.
The seat post can sometimes make a noise when you're riding. In most cases this is caused by the seat post not having enough lubrication on it. Take the seat post off, apply some carbon grease to it and refit it correctly.
You need to tighten your seat post correctly to make sure it stays in place. A loose seat post can slip when you're out and about on your bike. Conversely, if it's too tight, you run the risk of crushing the seat post and damaging your bike.
The best way to tighten a seat post is to use a torque wrench. We recommend you tighten it to between 4 and 6Nm.
